Overview
Waifu Deck is a free, open-source (AGPL-3.0), local-first Android application designed for discovering, organizing, and preserving anime illustrations and digital artwork. Most anime art browsers wrap a single image board, require user accounts, or store fragile bookmark links that break the moment an artist or moderator deletes a post. Waifu Deck takes the opposite approach: it unifies ten major art sources into a single, calm card-swiping deck, downloads full-resolution original files directly into private on-device storage, and offers optional Bring Your Own Storage (BYOS) cloud sync encrypted on your phone before upload.
Key Features
- One Swipe Deck Across Ten Sources: Browse Danbooru, yande.re, Konachan, Safebooru, waifu.im, Nekos API, Gelbooru, e926, and more in one unified feed with fair round-robin scheduling and SHA-256 deduplication.
- Tactile Card Decisions with Multi-Step Rewind: Swipe right to keep an illustration at full original resolution, swipe left to permanently dismiss it across restarts, or tap rewind anytime.
- Multi-Source Tag Search & Exclusion Filters: Search across all enabled sources simultaneously with instant tag autocomplete, localized aliases (English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese), and negative tag exclusions.
- 1-Key Cloud Auto-Provisioning & Multi-Backend Sync: Connect your own storage using a single API key for Cloudflare R2, Bunny Storage, or Backblaze B2, or link any S3-compatible server, WebDAV NAS, Google Drive, or OneDrive.
- Client-Side Zero-Knowledge Encryption & Cloud-Only Streaming: Encrypts originals, previews, thumbnails, and metadata on-device using AES-256-GCM (scrypt key derivation) and streams full originals on demand in Cloud-Only mode.
Use Cases
- Illustrators, designers, and anime art collectors curating visual reference libraries that survive upstream post deletions.
- Privacy-conscious users who want multi-device gallery synchronization without third-party SaaS accounts or telemetry.
