Rig

Run, watch and restart every local process from one Mac window — live logs, ports, and MCP for Cursor or Claude. Free in beta. Download now.

Introduction

Rig is a Mac app for local development: a control plane that discovers, starts, stops, and watches every process in your project from one window. It groups scripts, Procfiles, Laravel artisan sidecars, and managed Postgres or Redis, streams their logs together, and owns the ports they bind so you stop running lsof. A local MCP hub lets Cursor, Claude, Codex, Windsurf, or VS Code read health, logs, and ports, and restart a crashed service without a raw shell. Your source code stays on disk. Optional Rig Cloud syncs catalog metadata, Live Links, and encrypted Continuity backups across Macs — never the repo. Rig is not a hosted IDE, not a cloud coding VM, and not a PHP runtime. Laravel Herd and Valet still serve PHP; Rig sits beside them when you also run Vite, queues, APIs, and AI agents. The Mac app is free in beta for Apple Silicon and Intel on macOS 13 or later.

Key Features:
  • Centralized Process Management: Rig provides a unified control plane to discover, start, stop, and watch all local development processes from a single Mac window. This includes scripts, Procfiles, Laravel artisan sidecars, and managed services like Postgres or Redis.
  • Integrated Logging and Port Handling: It streams logs from all managed processes into one view and automatically handles port bindings, eliminating the need for manual lsof commands.
  • AI and IDE Integration (Local MCP Hub): Rig features a local Multi-Control Plane (MCP) hub that allows AI tools (Cursor, Claude, Codex, Windsurf) and IDEs (VS Code) to read service health, logs, and port information, and even restart crashed services without direct shell interaction.
  • Data Privacy: Your source code remains securely on your local disk. Rig Cloud, an optional feature, only syncs catalog metadata, Live Links, and encrypted Continuity backups across your Macs, never your repository code.
  • Complementary Development Workflow: Rig is designed to work alongside existing tools like Laravel Herd and Valet, managing additional processes such as Vite, queues, APIs, and AI agents, thereby enhancing your overall development environment without replacing core components.
  • Platform Support: Available as a native Mac app for both Apple Silicon and Intel processors, requiring macOS 13 or later.
  • Beta Availability: The Mac app is currently free during its beta phase, offering full functionality to early adopters.

Rig streamlines the complexities of local development by offering a robust, centralized solution for managing diverse processes. It's particularly beneficial for developers who juggle multiple services, microservices, or AI agents within their projects, providing a clear overview and control from a single application. By integrating with popular AI tools and IDEs, Rig aims to create a more intelligent and efficient development experience, reducing context switching and manual intervention. Its focus on local execution and data privacy ensures that developers maintain full control over their code while benefiting from enhanced management capabilities.
