MendPhoto

MendPhoto uses AI to restore faded, scratched, and blurry old photos while preserving recognizable faces, expressions, and original details.

Introduction

MendPhoto: AI Old Photo Restoration

MendPhoto is a browser-based AI tool for restoring old, faded, scratched, creased, noisy, or blurry photographs. It is designed for family portraits, childhood memories, wedding photos, genealogy archives, and other images worth preserving.

What MendPhoto Does

The tool repairs several common problems in one workflow:

  • Reduces fading and unwanted color casts
  • Repairs light scratches, dust, and creases
  • Improves blur, grain, noise, and weak contrast
  • Preserves black-and-white character
  • Aims to keep faces, expressions, clothing, pose, and composition recognizable
  • Produces a downloadable 1K result

MendPhoto accepts JPG, PNG, and WebP images up to 15 MB. Users can upload a photo, start the restoration, review the result against the original, and download the restored image.

How to Use It

For the best result, scan the original photo at 300–600 DPI. A clear phone photo also works when it is captured in even light, without glare, and with the camera parallel to the print.

Upload the clearest copy available and run the restoration. After processing, compare important details such as faces, hands, clothing, text, and background objects with the source image. Always keep the untouched original as a backup.

Responsible Restoration

AI cannot recover authentic information that is completely missing. Severely torn, water-damaged, or historically important photographs may require Photoshop or a professional restorer. MendPhoto is best used as a fast starting point for common damage, and every generated result should be reviewed.

Uploaded files are processed through a third-party provider. MendPhoto does not maintain a permanent personal photo library, although temporary retention follows the provider's policy.
