Government exam information in India is scattered and inconsistent. The official notices exist, but they're PDFs on government websites that most people never find or don't know to look for. Around that gap, a whole layer of content sites has grown up, and a lot of it is copied from other content sites rather than from the source. Dates get repeated without a check. Fee structures get pasted from last year's notification. Eligibility rules, which matter enormously because they decide whether someone can even apply, get simplified in ways that quietly drop an important exception. So I built governmentexams.wiki which has every fact on the site, exam dates, fees, eligibility, vacancies, is tied to an official notice and a verified date.
The site runs on Astro, generating static pages rather than a single-page app with a client side router. That was a deliberate choice. Every page is a real, separate document that a search engine can crawl and rank on its own, rather than a route inside a JavaScript bundle. It's hosted on Cloudflare Workers, which keeps it fast and cheap to run.
I started building governmentexams.wiki because I got tired of a very specific kind of frustration. You search something like "SSC CGL 2026 application dates" or "UPSC age relaxation for OBC candidates," and instead of a clear answer, you get five or six sites that all say roughly the same thing, none of them tell you where the number came from, and at least one of them is quietly wrong. For most searches that's an inconvenience. For an exam form, it can cost someone their shot at applying correctly, or at all.
I'm not in the exam prep industry. I came at this as someone who noticed a gap and had the skills to try closing it. What follows is an honest account of what I built, how I built it, and what I'm actually trying to do with it.
