Acres is a visual Markdown notes app for macOS and Windows. It combines text notes with an infinite canvas where you can arrange cards, connect ideas and see related material together. Notes stay as plain files in a folder you own.
Arrange Markdown note cards on a canvas and connect related ideas. Organize work with mindmaps, sections, tags and properties. Keep notes in local files. Use built-in AI with your own provider keys or local models, or connect external AI agents through the bundled local MCP server. Review AI edits and use undo history when you want to reverse changes.
Acres can help you plan a project, organize research notes or develop a draft by putting supporting ideas beside the text you are working on. The canvas lets you group related notes while preserving their Markdown content.
The app has a 14-day free trial with no account or payment details required. After the trial, choose the current $59 one-time early-adopter price for lifetime local use, or Acres Plus at $9 per month with app access, Sync and Publish. AI uses your own provider keys or local models. The trial is limited; there is no permanent free editing plan.
Download the macOS or Windows app from the Acres website, create your notes and arrange them in a canvas. Keep the folder containing your plain files under your control.
